B97 Table of Contents: Introduction, by Jean W. Advanced Flameworking, Vol. Articles Santini, Emilio. We will be applying for all possible aid from the new bill passed to keep the company and our shows moving forward.

We appreciate your support! We are sure that you are aware that the situation has gotten worse with Covid restrictions in Las Vegas, reducing the number of people that can meet. We are hopeful that the vaccine will be the catalyst that gets the country to defeat this virus. We feel that April is too soon to hold the show, so we are looking at possible dates a little further out after May.

When we have more information, it will be posted here. In the meantime, we are still working on everything mentioned below. Please have a Happy Holiday season and stay safe! Below is additional information that will hopefully answer those questions. We do not have enough funds to refund everyone at this time. We start work on the show in July of There is advertising, putting together the instructors and classes, creating, publishing and mailing the show books, staffing costs to do that and to manage the class sales, answer questions from students, etc.

Additionally, large deposits are due and were paid to many vendors of the show, but not the instructors. They get paid at or after the show. The hotel did return our deposit, but it was a small amount. We usually pay the hotel final bill with a combination of income which includes the tickets sold to get into the tradeshow, and the classes added the last couple of weeks prior to the show and at the show. We virtually pay for the show 30 days prior to it, with the exception of the instructors.

We are waiting for refunds from the vendors, who are also out of work and have no work expected until Spring at best, so that could be a wait. That is what we mean when we say that the tradeshow industry here in Vegas is in a shambles. The show lost money for the first years. For many years after that it only paid for the show expenses, not any overhead or yearly staffing costs.

To do so we would have had to exponentially raise costs for exhibitors and classes, which we never want to do. Most do not. Thankfully we are a small company with a very low overhead, which we are keeping even lower by not being open until we can start gearing up for tradeshows.

We have had to furlough staff, which is difficult as they have been with the company for years. We are not using customer money to stay afloat in the meantime. We have received the PPP to keep minimal operations and additional loans to get us through until we can start working and producing shows again. We have stated that our goal is to make everyone whole.

By that we mean either refunds or rolling over to classes at the next show. Once we have monies to do that for everyone, we plan on finding out what each person wants to do. We will be bringing back in our computer staff to set up a way to make that electronically possible. Then we can work with the instructors to hopefully repeat their popular classes that were unable to be taught in April.

Our intent is honorable, we are doing everything we can to make the above happen. It is just going to take time. We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, as we have watched years of hard work building shows slip away overnight. We are there with you in your struggles as we struggle ourselves to keep our business afloat. It breaks our heart as this is an industry that we have helped cultivate and dearly love and consider everyone as family.

We have responded to all emails we have received on an individual basis but have cancelled the service that allows email blasts to all involved in the show as part of our cost saving efforts. Our Social Media presence and responses are minimal as we have had to lay off our staff member that handled that.

Our apologies for delays in responding, or if we have missed responding to anyone. Some people feel we have not been good at communicating. We have been putting up messages on our website, but often times we just do not have anything new to tell you. This situation is unlike anything that anyone has ever experienced.

We are still feeling our way through how to deal with it, and the mounds of paperwork to apply for grants and additional loans. The best way to reach us is via email and not social media, so if you do have questions, please email us directly at support lvmanagement. Our main concern has been to try to keep the show alive. Many of our teachers and vendors rely on the income from this show.

Contrary to the belief of some people, we at Las Vegas Management do not make a large profit on the show. We have to produce many other shows during the year, all of which have been cancelled or postponed until next Spring at the earliest.

It might have been easier to just declare bankruptcy and end the show and our company. But the show is too important to us and the industry to just give up. Our primary goal is that everyone will be made whole. We tell you all of this in hope that you will understand our situation. This is not an excuse, but the honest truth that we are laying bare to you. We thank the many exhibitors, instructors and students that have written us with their support, it means more than you know.

Las Vegas and the trade show industry as a whole is in a shambles. The decision to postpone the show was made in March due to the Covid, and the fact that nearly the entire country was asked to stay at home. We had hoped to be able to hold the show in the Fall. This obviously is not possible, so we are planning for next April. Prior to the show, show monies are spent in several ways. One, advertising, which includes publishing and shipping the show guide and various print and online advertising.

A large amount of the show funds are also placed as advance payments to the multiple vendors for the show and were rolled over to a Fall show. At this time, we have requested, but not received deposits back. We cannot make refunds to the individual students, as we cannot refund all the students at this time. As I mentioned, the tradeshow industry in Las Vegas is totally flatlined, it is hard for any business to survive without any income for 6 months and more.

Currently we are exploring all grants, loans and Government assistance programs to enable us to survive until next spring. We realize that it is impractical to hold the conference this fall, so we are focusing on next Spring to hold the show. We need to wait until it is approved by the State of Nevada to hold meetings of over 50 safely and confirm our dates before we address refunds or roll overs of all fees, so please be patient.

We are in communication with the South Point to look at options for next Spring, after Easter. We would like to have that information to provide to you to make your plans. Many other industry tradeshows have fallen victim to this virus and will never be held again. Some conferences have scheduled, but there is no guarantee that they will be held unless restrictions are lifted.

Major tradeshows are being cancelled through the first of Because of that, we are still keeping our office closed as we are not able to incur the expenses of office operations, such as utilities and of course salaries. We will address all your questions and concerns as soon as we have more information and we are back in the office. Our hope is that you are staying well and working through all of the regulations in your respective areas. It has been so unexpected, with information changing often.

We are waiting until it has been determined if we can hold the conference this fall or if we have to wait until next Spring before we address refunds or roll overs of all fees, so please be patient for a little longer. We know it will be important to make a decision soon to enable everyone to make plans. In anticipation of not being able to reschedule this Fall, we are in communication with the South Point to look at options for next Spring. Some have opened, some are waiting a while.

There is no indication of when gatherings and tradeshows of over 50 people will be allowed by either Federal or State mandate. The governor stated the week of June 15 that Nevada will stay on Level 2 a while longer until the statistics on new cases of Covid and hospitalizations show that opening up the city to the degree they have is not increasing exposure.

We would like to have the classes and tradeshow early fall but must wait until it is allowed and safe to do so.

It is a lot of work to pull this together, which we do not want to initiate until we have the full go ahead from the state. We are waiting until it has been determined if we can hold the conference early fall before we address refunds or roll overs of all fees, so please be patient for a little longer! We hope that all of you have been healthy. Meetings of no more than 50 will be allowed, also with social distancing rules, however there is no indication of when large gatherings and tradeshows will be allowed by either Federal or State mandate.

Because of that, we are keeping our office closed as we are not able to incur the expenses of office operations, such as utilities and of course salaries.

We are waiting until it has been determined if we can hold the conference later this summer or early fall before we address refunds or roll overs of all fees, so please be patient for a little longer! Although Nevada is entering phase 1 on May 9, we are not a phase 1 industry. We are not able to access all of our essential systems from home.

We also do not have secure networks from home to process any accounts. Thank you, and stay safe. March 30th, Please be advised that the Las Vegas Management office was closed by the State of Nevada Mandate as a non-essential business starting March We will reopen as soon as the mandate is lifted. However, we do have good news.

The South Point Hotel is working with us to postpone the conference. There are not many hotels in Las Vegas that are doing this. We owe the South Point many thanks for being the partner that they are. At this time, we do not have the exact dates of when the show will be held. Please allow us time to work out all the necessary details. We ask that you keep in mind that we are a smaller family business, not a large corporation, and do not have the ability to answer phone calls and emails and simultaneously work on the many adjustments required to accomplish moving the show to a new date.

As soon as we have confirmed dates and plans in place, we will notify everyone. Because we are taking the necessary precautions for the safety of all and are postponing, not cancelling the show, all payments including class registrations will be applied to the new show dates.

If you booked rooms, please call the South Point reservations line at to cancel that reservation. Please be patient with them as we imagine they are a bit overwhelmed with many cancellations. Our deepest gratitude for those that have shown their unwavering loyalty, support and patience while we have been navigating through this crisis. It takes the whole glass community to put together this event that is so vital to the industry as well as enjoyed by all that attend.
